Zhihong Shangis Licensed Acupuncturist in Connecticut and she is nationally board certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is specializes in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and a variety of other Chinese medical modalities geared towards promoting patients' optimal physical and emotional health.

Ms. Shang was born and grew up in China. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine at the Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After she came to the United States, she received her Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. Her training encompassed over 3,000 hours of class work in areas including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, western pathology and pharmacology, oriental physical therapy and nutrition, and clinical internships. Her background enables her to tailor Chinese medical wisdom to the needs of American patients.

"As an acupuncturist, my goal is to help as many people as possible by providing affordable, effective treatment, as well as to educate the general public on the benefit of Chinese medicine. The idea of prevention of disease and early treatment to prevent deterioration is the basic treatment principle in Chinese medicine. In other words, diseases should be prevented before they occur or try best to shorten the course of diseased if we get sickness. This is in stark contrast to the western medicine system, which treat ailments after they occur or wait some systems go worse then to attempt to treat. It is my vision to help patients be aware of their own health condition, to get health problems treated at the beginning in a natural way, and to prevent disease by changing diet and life style, rather than let unsolved problems accumulate and then run for heavy pills."
