Tom Arnold left Microsoft to bring his 20-years of experience in the Tech industry to bear on getting lost pets home faster than ever before. Author of 3 technology books, founder of successful start-ups, and National Ski Patrol volunteer, he's driven.
Tom Arnold co-founded Software Testing Laboratories in 1993 introducing technology companies to the proper application of quality assurance in a software development lifecycle. Arnold was the first to write and publish an industry book about automating software testing as part of an overall approach to releasing high-quality products.

ST Labs Corporation was sold in 1998 for $13.9MM allowing Arnold to move his attention to consulting and release the 2nd of his three books around software development. Speaking at such conferences as Microsoft TechEd, STAR (Software Test Analysis and Review), Quality Week, and IBM/Rational, Arnold found his books, 10-hour video series, and 3-day classes in great demand. "Traveling to consult for such companies as Symantec, Adobe, Corel, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, and too many others to count allowed me to see how people approached applying software testing practices within their organizations. It was an incredible opportunity," remarked Arnold.

Tom next founded E-Loading Corporation in 1999 with the company's first client being E-Toys.com, a leader in Internet sales of children's toys. "My team and I were asked to simulate thousands of transactions in short bursts to allow E-Toys to confirm it was ready for the 1999 shopping season and the subsequent 'load' that would be placed on its web servers," explained Arnold. "Business Week wrote about us referring to us as a team of 'hackers' that was responsible for E-Toys being one of the few sites that didn't crash during the holiday rush. While such giants as Amazon.com had outages that year, E-Toys had equivalent web traffic yet remained online the entire time thanks to what E-Loading was able to accomplish," added Arnold.

After selling E-Loading for an undisclosed amount to an Internet security company, Tom joined a new start-up Crossport Systems as their Vice President of Development in 2000. Makers of the Pivio Firewall Appliance, Arnold built a team of 20 engineers to quickly get a high quality "personal firewall" product to market. "In the days where only companies could afford a firewall, DSL was quickly moving into homes and Pivio filled a critical Internet security need," said Arnold. Crossport Systems was sold in 2001 to Motorola's Metrowerks division.

Arnold next helped Seattle's Washington Mutual Bank (WaMu) build a software quality assurance team for their new Enterprise division within the 90,000 employee bank. Completing his task, he was approached by the Microsoft Visual Studio team to help add new software testing tools into their popular and award-winning suite of software development applications. After completing that project Arnold moved into the Microsoft Office group to join a small start-up team working on helping small to medium-sized businesses create and manage an Internet presence, including a website, hosted Exchange (email), and hosted Sharepoint (file sharing). Some of his work included living for 3-months in Hyderabad, India, to work closely with a team of developers, program managers, and test engineers.

"I loved the work I was doing and the people I was working with. Something was missing, though. I wanted to give back after being so lucky for so long," noted Arnold. "For years I've watched my mom volunteer with school children, taking meals to shut-ins, being a leader in her church, spending time with hospice patients, and supporting the local Arts. I wanted to give back but I wanted it to be around something I'm passionate about," he said.

At that time Arnold realized his three passions in life were his animals, skiing, and being a techy. "I took 120-hours of EMT-equivalent medical training classes and joined the National Ski Patrol. I then adopted a rescue puppy I hope to train for Avalanche Search & Rescue work and quit my job at Microsoft to form a company that's about caring for and protecting the animals in our lives," said Arnold. The life-changing event that led him to finally step-up and look to bring his passions together in a way that he can give back? First lady Michelle Obama's plea to Americans to give more of their time to their communities through volunteer work. “Being an Internet geek, my community is world-wide. I’m starting with the U.S., but I’m going well beyond those borders to help people protect their four-legged family members,” concluded Arnold.
