Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Contractor

Mel has been a contract design engineer for twenty years and has built a diversified mechanical background that most engineers never experience. Mel also owns a design business 3D-LUX CAD Services and specializes in new product development. He is proficient with a design software called Pro/Engineer and has used it exclusively for 18 years. Mel is also well versed using most of the Microsoft Office suite of tools along with other engineering software specific programs tailored to the R & D industry.

Originally schooled in the military as an aviation machinist Mel advanced to journeyman machinist and worked several years as a job shop machinist in Albuquerque, New Mexico prior to college at NMSU. His cross-industry experience includes automotive, aerospace, defense, marine, agricultural as well as light machinery and consumer products. His background as a design engineer with the ability to operate most lab equipment and machinery has prepared him for the multiple and diverse challenges required to develop products from concept thru testing, assembly and manufacturing.

From training in the Marine Corps to working as a successful contract engineer, Mel Lux has developed the required leadership and communication skills one would expect to work effectively in a team based environment. Mel's ability to pull his own weight on a design project while fostering the thoughts and creative ideas from marketing, industrial design, manufacturing, and the prototype construction is why his clients continue to hire him for future projects.
