Sometimes you can find yourself in your own business quite accidentally, as is the case with Kristi Kirkland, owner of Answer Marketing. It wasn’t that she wanted to grow up to be the person who helps businesses refine how they did business, create happier customers and put more on the bottom line. She ended up doing that for businesses because they begged her to do for them what she was doing for her employers. “Can you show me how to do that? I need employees like you have,” they kept saying. She took a long look at how she was making companies thrive and saw that she had a very unique and successful system to help businesses. So, she started Answer Marketing to help companies grow in profitable, customer-friendly ways.
It is difficult as the head of a company to see the forest for the trees. “I get immense satisfaction out of helping others succeed and rediscover how to love what they do” Kirkland. There are times it takes a person on the outside to see what is preventing the profitability of a company. Often times, the problem is simple. It is in the shortcuts and systems business owners need in order to take back their time. Frequently, an employee is hired because of the great successes he or she had on their last job.The problem comes in when training tailored to the new position doesn’t happen on the current job. So, performance isn’t what it needs to be and the productivity is not what it should be. Company owners that understand they can’t and shouldn’t do it all and bring in outside business growth support will be the companies leading the way in today’s markets.
Other issues can arise with the lack of basic customer service skills for today’s market. This is a sophisticated market with a sophisticated, educated consumer. The customer wants to have an ear that will listen and solve their problem. So often, a company’s employees are not properly trained on how to listen or follow through. Handling customers like they are all the same, with identical needs doesn’t make for happy customers. Today’s customer does not want to be sold to they want concierge services whether they are buying a car or ordering a cheeseburger. “Those that are taught how to listen, communicate and deploy problem-solving skills will rise to the top every time” Kirkland. It is a different environment today and customers are educating themselves When a company makes that step up to the current times and business practices, their customers are happier and that affects the bottom line.
Kristi takes an in-depth look at a company’s operations, employee policies, communications and how they approach and service their customers. The entire picture is evaluated from how the work flows through the company to the smallest interactions with the end consumer. The areas where the flow stalls or the mission is dropped is identified. Then Mrs. Kirkland will draw up a plan to get those areas of loss become areas of profitability. This is done by training and bringing the employees up to speed, suggesting changes in the overall workflow and addressing other issues such as the company’s website or social media accounts.
It takes a talented person to zoom in and narrow the field of vision right down to the very things that are holding a company back from success. It does take a person who is gifted in a way to find such issues or even to know what to look for in an operation. Answer Marketing has those people in Mrs. Kirkland and her team of business experts. She has been saying for years, “If you cannot be part of the solution you are part of the problem. Some problems can be fixed the rest need to be removed to make way for positive growth.”
Kristi has already helped over seventy companies improve their customer relations, appearance to their customer base and their profitability. Her company isn’t a one-time shot in the arm like a motivational weekend in the mountains. This is an in-depth program with ongoing training and support to get the company on track, inspire and train the employees to listen to the customers and how to provide solutions.
Kristi's company only takes on a handful of industry exclusive companies at a time, in order to also practice what they teach providing full business acceleration concierge services that include finding the root of the issues with productivity, increasing community visibility and full on training of personnel. Answer Marketing also offers other programs as well as professional groups that will help the success of executives, employees, small businesses, and salespeople. “I really did my research, selectively picked out what works, removed the broken elements and threw on top my own special ingredients to build groups and programs that really work” Kirkland. They are so successful that she refers to them as their “For Profit Groups".
