He graduated with a BS in Economics from the University of St. Peter, and an MBA in Health Administration at George Washington, John Ferguson served as president and CEO of Hackensack University Medical Center from 1986 to 2009.
Hackensack University Medical Center is a 781-bed, nonprofit hospital tertiary care teaching principal who serves as the village health center in Bergen County and northern New Jersey. It is the largest volume hospital in the state with more than 1,500 physicians representing a wide range of specialty and subspecialty medical and dental, and the fourth largest hospital in the nation on the basis of a hospital since February 2000. One of the first hospitals to receive Magnet status for Excellence in Nursing Service, the U.S. and four times re-designated as a Magnet hospital, the medical center was also the only hospital in the state of New Jersey to receive six U.S. national rankings News and World Report “America’s Best Hospitals” in the specialties of Cardiology, Geriatrics, Gastroenterology, ENT, Orthopaedics and Rheumatology. During his career, Mr. Ferguson has received numerous awards and recognition for their outstanding leadership and tireless commitment the community.
