Laura Smith Biswas is a Founder and Managing Principal at Cadence Research & Consulting. Laura has over 18 years experience in finance, strategy and operations within the healthcare industry.

At Cadence Research, Laura directs the business operations including finance, human resources, information technology and marketing. She started Cadence Research with Sugata Biswas in 2008 after leaving the biotech industry to explore studies in psychology and entrepreneurship.

After completing her master’s degree, she began to explore entrepreneurial models of work that blend sound principles of psychology with strong business fundamentals. She is passionately engaged in leading as an aware, humanistic leader who believes that a holistic model of work is not only engaging but necessary for the highest levels of success.

Prior to Cadence Research, Laura was an Investor Relations officer at Amgen, the world’s largest independent biotechnology company. She worked extensively in Amgen’s finance organization assisting marketing teams to optimize decisions related to clinical investments, lifecycle management, product sales and profitability. Laura also spent time at Hoffmann-La Roche in their leadership development program, working in the treasury group, performing analysis to support product pricing, portfolio management and business development opportunities.

She holds a BS in Community Health Education and MS in Economics from Utah State University, an MBA from Yale University and a MS in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
