Colin has an outstanding track record for generating substantial revenues from Intellectual Property enabling ClearViewIP to create tangible value for clients.
As Commercialisation Director, a key aspect of Colin’s work is managing the alignment of the patent portfolio with the requirements of the client’s business. This is realised by challenging how their portfolio contributes to achieving their strategic business objectives and then determining further revenue opportunities through the sale or licensing of patents. This process has given Colin exposure to a number of international patent portfolios and the differing strategies that companies have in developing and managing them.

Before joining ClearviewIP, Colin was Senior VP Technology Commercialisation at BTG where he led the Physical Sciences team. Recognised for his team management skills and patent expertise, he was responsible for revenues of $100m from 2005 to 2007, realised through both licensing and selling patents in the US and Japan. Colin’s experience spans all stages of the licensing process including filing and settling litigations.

Colin is a Chartered Engineer and has a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London. He is Vice President of LES B&I, past Chairman of the ImechE Medical Engineering Division and has presented for a range of organisations including Shanghai International Property Forum, Kaplan Hawkesmere, CIPA, LES, Praxis and IEEPI. Colin has also been recognised by his appointment to the IAM 300 as one of the World’s leading IP Strategists.
