Yancy began working in the Memphis area after graduating from the University of Memphis in 1978 with a Business degree. He began his career buying multiple properties in the mid-town area and renovating them as rental properties. In the mid 80's, Yancy worked for Magnolia Realty Company, selling primarily selling to first time homebuyers and took great pleasure in helping people purchase their first home. In 1995, Yancy obtained his Tennessee Broker License and opened a small, 15 agent real estate firm, Fred Yancy Realty.

Before joining Harry Norman, Yancy relocated to the North Atlanta area, and obtained his Georgia broker’s license and began working with Crye-Leike Realtors.
