Michael has 20+ years of experience working with engineering, technology and emerging business that include Ernst & Young LLP, 3M Corporation, US West, Philips, G&K Services and The Boeing Company. For the past 12 years, he has been an executive managing new ventures, developing strategy and leading business development and engineering efforts.

Most recently he is a principal with Greenwood Clean energy where he leads marketing, product development and engineering efforts. In this capacity, he was charged with taking the company from launch to revenues of $10.5M in under three years and establishing Greenwood as the #1 recognized brand in the indoor wood boiler category. He is viewed as an industry expert by newspapers, publications, television and radio including WSJ, Redbook, Better Homes & Gardens, and Plumbing & Mechanical. He has appeared on ABC, HGTV, Discovery Channel and been heard on WGN, NPR and numerous local radio stations. Michael has also often called upon as an expert on residential bioheat for regulatory agencies and state legislative bodies.

At Ernst & Young he served as a Managing Director, where he identified under-valued assets of the firm and developed new businesses or service lines to profit from them. Several of these activities included launching a software development center and professional services practice focused on Microsoft technologies, now a cornerstone of the Cap Gemini consulting practice with greater than $650M in revenues. He also spawned several businesses that have gone on to become successful stand-alone ventures, including founding and managing the growth of a national organization focused on delivering financial planning advice via the Internet. This organization was valued greater than $50M and was placed into a joint venture with E*Trade.

Michael has a degree in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. in Strategic Management and Operations. He is an advisor and board member of several early stage companies and not-for-profits.
