As a second generation Turkish Cypriot girl in the 70's even staying on at school beyond 16 was groundbreaking. Hasan ran away from home, gained a degree and became a teacher.
Just when her family were reconciled to this she left her secure job and retrained, of all things, as a plumber.
Stopcocks Woman Plumber was founded in 1990 and was a very successful business but by 2006 Hasan wanted to achieve more.
Shocked that the numbers of female plumbers had hardly changed, she connected that with the rapture of her own customers at receiving her top quality customer service. Typically though, she did not go the traditional route and take on employees.
She recognised the bigger picture and the larger context and created something to address that.
As self-employed, self-directed women the team at Stopcocks Women Plumbers are role models to girls, women reinventors and an industry on it's knees.
