John had always dreamed of writing a novel, a desire born from his love of reading science fiction and fantasy. But his dream took a back seat while he carved out a living as a high-tech sales and marketing manager.

His first attempts at writing fantasy left a lot to be desired. But storylines and plots continued to jell in his head even as he would read bedtime stories to his young daughter each night. After she fell asleep he would sit at his desk and pound out another page, or a paragraph, or on some nights when the words wouldn’t flow, maybe a sentence or two. But he never gave up on his dream.

Over time he began to draw story ideas from his job, intrigued at how technology could be used for both good and ill. “What if…” was a thought that persisted and found its way into his writing.

He knew he would always regret not finishing what he had started earlier in his life. So after leaving a tech company, he decided to write full-time and finally polish the story he always wanted to tell. The result is Elthea’s Realm, his debut novel.

He writes about magical places that have roots in the real world. His characters are unlikely heroes who struggle with frailties and imperfections as they face malevolent forces. He’s currently writing the next book in The Story of Elthea’s Realm series.

John makes his home in Massachusetts.
