Tom Thum
Level 1 Tech Support
“ Tom's knack for juggling tasks makes him an invaluable member of the K12USA team. ”
After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in information technology, the man with the unforgettable name “looked everywhere” for work and spotted a great opportunity on Craigslist. Tom interviewed, landed the job, and joined K12USA in 2014.
His knack for juggling tasks comes in handy at K12USA, where he does everything from fielding tech-support calls to rebuilding servers. The position has “proven fun so far”—Tom likes the people, loves that he learns something new every day, and appreciates the free, catered lunches served daily. It’s a far cry from his first job ever: working the Fast Pass at Six Flags Great Adventure where he experienced “ride rage”—customers threatening to punch him for not letting them on the rides.
Tom, who’s not a cat lover, lives in Bayville with his family and his mom’s 25 cats. Thankfully, he has a great sense of humor, along with the gift of turning bad situations into good.
When he’s not working, he can be found playing video games and music or indulging in “nerdy hobbies,” like building mini soldiers for tabletop games. He also enjoys returning to his favorite city, Rochester, where there’s plenty of culture, good food, and quick, easy access to nature.
