In a long and varied career James' day job has usually been in IT and technology, having spent 30 years at Legal and General, British Airways and IBM, and 10 years running his own IT company.

However, the major passion of James' life has been to help people (including himself) overcome the limitations generated by early-life experiences to achieve freedom from a variety of conditions. Having left school with few qualifications and mostly unhappy memories, James went on to gain a Master of Philosophy degree in the School of Management at the University of Bath, and carried on with a further 10 years of post-graduate research into "Overcoming Learning Blocks in Intelligent Adults".

James is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, has taught co-counselling for three UK universities and a number of GP practices, and is qualified in the Emotional Freedom Techniques.

In 2009 James was obese, with type II diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and he couldn't walk a mile. He discovered a little-known but highly effective nutrition system, developed at the University of Cambridge, and a highly effective exercise system (that even works for people who hate exercise) and within 5 months had lost 7 stones (100lbs, 45kg), had sent the diabetes into total remission, normalised cholesterol and blood pressure, and had "Nordic" walked over 200 miles. He and his wife, Susan became qualified Nordic Walking instructors, and founded Walking for Happiness (www.WalkingForHappiness,co.uk) to introduce people to the benefits of Nordic Walking. To date they have taught Nordic Walking on three continents, in seven countries, and even on the decks of a Caribbean Cruise Liner.

However, he soon realised that Nutrition and Exercise are only two legs of a three-legged stool. So for the last two years James has called on a life-time of personal development experience, plus researching the latest in neuro-science, the New Psychology of Kindness and many other fields to develop Together We Can, a programme of mental and emotional training and support designed to "rewire the brains" of food-addicted people so that they find comfort in healthy places, and not through addictions that harm their mental, emotional and physical well-being.

James lives in southern Hampshire in the UK with his psychotherapist wife, Susan, their dog George, cat Alice, and their three chickens.
