Mali is an author, poet, speaker, marketer, messaging strategist, CEO of Mali Creative and the Producer/Director of Tea with Mali. Mali specializes in helping her corporate and individual clients SOAR (See, Own, Articulate, Release) their uniqueness by aligning their personal gifts and professional talents with their passions and purpose. Her SOAR Mapping programs are offered as 1 hour seminars, 2 day retreats, and full day workshops to individuals, entrepreneurs, associations and corporate executives who want to uncover their gifts and talents and powerfully articulate their unique differentiators to their intended audience.
She also helps entrepreneurs and executive management teams inside organizations effectively market their core values by helping create heartfelt and authentic website copy, blog content and social media messaging strategies. Mali has over 14 years of marketing, sales, and business development experience with such companies as Passport Automotive, Century 21 Realty, Universal Systems & Technology, Inc., and Izar Associates, Inc. She ran a financial services practice with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network for seven years where she created and implemented risk management strategies for hundreds of clients.
Mali is a well-known community champion and fundraiser for local non-profits. She is co-founder of the Young Professional Leadership Group and is dedicated to supporting the Lao Heritage Foundation and Teatro de la Luna amongst numerous other charitable organization. She is a professor to young female high school students involved in Pathways Young Entrepreneurship Program. Mali is actively engaged in the visual and performing arts and is a singer/songwriter. She has been writing poetry, essays, and short stories for over 20 years and is cited in various international publications. She has over 500 pieces of written work and was nominated as “Best Poet of the Year” by the International Society of Poets in 2007. She earned three Bachelor’s Degrees in International Business, Marketing; and Spanish from the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated speaking four languages: English, Spanish, Lao and Thai.
A Million Fireflies, Mali’s memoir about her voyage from war-torn Laos to America, was released in the Spring of 2011. Mali is also Coauthor of Seen and Sustained: Best Practices in Communication that Increase the Visibility of Small and Diverse Businesses. Her coauthors, Akia Garnett, Jane Lovas, and Tamecia Bradshaw published Seen and Sustained, a professional development workbook, in August 2011.
Mali has traveled across the United States to share her knowledge and insight with numerous organizations including universities, community associations and corporations. She shares her unique perspectives on such topics as personal and professional development, overcoming life’s many challenges, uncovering a true vision and mission for success, and choosing to live a life with passion and purpose. She has keynoted and presented to organizations such as The Library of Congress, The Smithsonian, The Lao American Writer’s Summit, Networking Executive Women’s Luncheon, Trinity College, The University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, The Lao American Advancement Organization’s Annual Conference, International Rotary Clubs, SWAMFest, The Lao Heritage Foundation Annual Banquets, and many more. Advisor Today Magazine, Asian Fortune Newspaper, News Channel 8/WJLA DC area, Radio Free Asia, Voice of America, and numerous blog talk radio programs have featured her and her journey.
