David C. Barbeau is the Chief Executive Officer of Barbeau Consulting LLC, a company formed in 2010. Barbeau has been providing business improvement advice to companies in the automotive aftermarket. With over thirty five years of experience in the automotive industry, Barbeau brings senior level experience with a global scope. Barbeau is an expert in the distribution business having been an owner of a recognized automotive distributor in the U.S. This distribution experience coupled with his senior aftermarket leadership position with a global Tier One manufacturer provides a deep and rich background that serves as a foundation for his advice to clients.
Barbeau began his automotive career in 1976 at Monroe Auto Equipment Company in Monroe, Michigan, achieving the position of chief financial officer where he oversaw accounting, treasury, information technology, and strategic planning functions for this global automotive ride control manufacturer.
In 1987, Barbeau became president of ARA Automotive Group in Grand Prairie, Texas, a privately held original equipment manufacturer of automotive heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and became senior vice president, operations, for APS, Inc. in 1990, a Houston based national distributor of automotive replacement parts.
Prior to joining Delphi Corporation, Barbeau served as executive vice president of Auto Parts Express LLC, an automotive parts and equipment distribution company he co-founded in 1999. Auto Parts Express LLC was sold to a leading national automotive distributor in 2002.
Barbeau began his career at Delphi Corporation, a global Tier One manufacturer, in 2002 where he held the position of General Director, Global Sales and Marketing. In this position, he led the continuing development of Delphi’s robust product offering. In 2006, Barbeau was promoted to Vice President of the Global Independent Aftermarket business unit at Delphi. As the senior executive in the independent aftermarket business unit, Barbeau established Delphi as a recognized and respected global supplier.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Barbeau earned a bachelor’s degree, and an MBA in finance from Saint Louis University. Barbeau has served on the boards of the Automotive Sales Council, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA).
