Keia Bounds’ passion for design began at the age of eight, when she and her mother would make Keia dresses and Keia would create matching dresses for her dolls. As an adult Keia entered the fashion industry working in retail and then as a design intern for Urban Outfitters, Cynthia Rowley. She was then invited to start her design career working with major fashion houses such as Tracy Feith,Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.
After working with these iconic designers, in 2001, she decided to launch a very small collection called Keia K. The line consisted of custom made One of a Kind reconstructed garments using vintage scarves and fabrics. Her clothing was sold at local boutiques in Brooklyn, The Market NYC and she made custom clothing for various talent at the SAG Awards. After participating in local fashion shows, photo shoots, videos and working with private clients, she shortly transitioned into becoming a fashion stylist.
While working as a freelance fashion stylist and designer, Keia was offered a full time position working as a Key Costumer and Stylist on Chappelle’s Show's. Soon after Chappelle’s show’s popularity grew, she became the off camera stylist for TLC’s What Not to Wear. This moved Keia’s career in a different direction and she became a Celebrity Stylist for People Magazine, Premiere and Entertainment Weekly.
She went on to work on several other TV shows like Law & Order CI and White Collar. Some of the films on her resume are El Cantante, Remember Me, One Missed Call, Talk to me, Black Nativity, Squirrels to the Nuts,as a Costumer and an Assistant Costume Designer.
This superwoman is currently the Assistant Costume Designer for the award winning television show Nurse Jackie on Showtime. She divide’s her time between her husband, two kids and her clothing line Willian. She also runs her own styling company Rebounds For Style working with professionals to celebrities with their personal style. When she finds time she enjoys mentoring anyone interested in fashion and is a regular Guest Speaker at F.I.T.
Keia is one of the best kept secrets in the fashion, film and television industry.
