Pedro Diaz is the Chief Executive Officer for The Workplace Mental Health Institute. He loves helping managers and HR personnel redesign their workplaces into havens of good mental health, good morale and even better productivity. Pedro is a recovering accredited mental health social worker that specialises in workplace mental health strategy, have written his own book ‘Reclaim Your Power’.

In a past life Pedro Diaz worked with a major insurance company as a psychological injury expert, and that’s where he started to see how poorly mental health is dealt with in most Australian workplaces. He also became aware that, with a few targeted but sophisticated strategies, workplaces can shift it all around and become thriving workplaces instead.

His passion comes from having been mad himself (bipolar disorder – but don’t worry, these days he is fully recovered, just your average type of crazy). So he knows first hand what it is like to be distressed and waste your whole weekend because you’re going have to be back at work on Monday. Total waste and totally avoidable. Not just for him, or people like him, but for workplaces too. Unfortunately, he continues to see the damage that covert mental health issues cause in teams and the rest of the organisation. So he has dedicated himself to making this world a better place one workplace at a time.

His previous roles include visiting fellow of the University of Wollongong, field educator for the Australian Catholic University, NSW President of the Australian Association of Social Workers, and he has also delivered mental health education to organisations across Australia including Westpac, Echo Entertainment Group, MSS Security, American Express, Cooper Grace Ward lawyers, the Australian Department of Defence, and many others.
