Maja Myall comes from multinational family, mostly Yugoslavian with some French and Bavarian background. Maja’s parents both worked in marketing, however her mum passion was painting and sculpture, whilst her aunty was a fashion designer. Maja grew up in a very creative household.
‘As I child, I use to visit grandparents in Montfort (France) where they lived and worked as antique dealers. It was magical being surrounded with unusual furniture that had so many tales to tell, listening to creaking parquet flooring and catching glimpses of it all in aged oversize mirrors. I guess that is where my passion for interiors, and feelings it can evoke in us, began.’
Maja studied Product Design at Belgrade Design School and won second prize for a lamp design. After Design School she auditioned at Belgrade Academy of Applied Arts and got a place in the class of 5 students.
Before her studies could begin, Maja took a year out and came to England. She was inspired by edgy and quirky British designs and personalities. She enrolled at York College of Arts and Crafts to study and explore 3d Design. Whilst at York College, Maja took a keen interest in York’s medieval history and architecture. She enrolled at Brighton University where she studied Interior Architecture. Maja use to design local cafés and restaurants in order to pay for her final project materials and equipment.
First day after Graduating from Brighton University she walked into ‘Atelier One’ – Structural Engineers, people behind Tarantara at Baltic by Anish Kapoor, Turin Olympics opening ceremony and Baltic Gallery.
In-between moving from Atelier One to DesignLSM, Maja forged her career with Architectural company for 2 years.
Architectural background, peppered with product design, 3D design and structural engineering experiences made it very easy to apply that knowledge to her Interior Designs and furniture detailing.
Whilst Senior Designer and later Associate Director, Maja Myall was responsible for the design of Two Michelin Star Restaurant – Pied a Terre in Charlotte Street, one Michelin Star – Chapter One, The Runnymede-on-Thames, Bertorelli Restaurant in Mincing lane, Braserie Chez Gerard concepts and numerous Carluccio’s , plus various independent Restaurants and delicatessens.

After working as team leader for eight years, Maja took courage and set up Blenheim Design. ‘I wanted to dedicate more time to projects and clients, and we have been a successful working practice for over 6 years’.
