 Richard worked for many years under the tutelage of internationally renowned director, producer, writer and multi-Academy Award nominee Menahem Golan before founding Cannon Films Ltd in 2014.

Richard Albiston worked for many years under the tutelage of internationally renowned director, producer, writer and multi-Academy Award nominee Menahem Golan. During this time, he wrote and developed numerous projects for Golan and international partners, including Allan Quatermain and the Jewel of the East and Return of the Delta Force for MGM; as well as working independently as a screenwriter for independent producers including Roger Corman and contributed to the Piranha franchise. More recently, he has acted in various capacities for Ovidio G. Assonitis acting as Head of Production for his motion picture operations and managing AONE Highway Film Investments and TheFiveLLC. He currently manages Mr Assonitis’ back-catalog of library titles for the United Kingdom and selected territories, many of which are now considered to be ‘cult classics.’ He has overseen the sale of several titles to the physical release market, including the upcoming high definition blu-ray debut of Tentacles (1977) in time for its 45th anniversary.

From 2016-2020, he sat on the creative board of The Great Northern Creative Festival/Expo as Creative Producer and ran its ‘Expo Education’ arm, encouraging school aged children into further studies in the creative arts. As part of the New Vision Group, he co-wrote, produced and directed the 2011 independent feature film Something Evil, Something Dangerous: New Moon Rising. The film was released in a limited theatrical run in the UK and enjoyed more success on DVD. He was the associate producer on the 2016 British thriller, Bastion, as well as produced The Great Northern Creative Show, a syndicated magazine show to accompany 2017 edition of The Great Northern Creative Festival. He holds a First Class Undergraduate degree & a Master Degree with Distinction from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and is currently undertaking studies towards a PhD in Film Development & Distribution Models at Lancaster University. He received the Elizabeth Burns Prize for his work on his Masters Degree. He currently runs The Cannon Film Company in England, developing low budget independent films for the international marketplace. The Renata Road, a psychological thriller from director Ed Greenberg, released in 2023.
