As co-founder and President, John Larsen leads ci design with his award-winning experience in the design of retail, mixed-use and hospitality projects around the world. Together with firm principals, Mr. Larsen works to ensure the delivery of consistent, cost-effective and quality project results.

Throughout his career, Mr. Larsen has received accolades for his work on such noteworthy projects as The Walk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the award-winning $200 million redevelopment of North Hills in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the renovation and expansion of the 20 million-square-foot Ibn Battuta Mall redevelopment in Dubai, UAE.

Mr. Larsen currently leads ci design’s work on the redevelopment of City Place Mall in Washington, DC and Metropica, the ground-breaking 4 million square-foot mixed-use, transit-oriented development in Sunrise, Florida.

Prior to co-founding ci design in 2009, Mr. Larsen served as Managing Principal for Retail and Mixed-Use at its predecessor firm Cubellis, Principal and Practice Group Leader for Retail, Mixed-Use and Hospitality at Jacobs Carter & Burgess, and a Senior Vice President at Development Design Group.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota with Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture and Environmental Design, Mr. Larsen is an active member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), the American Institute of Architects, and International Council of Shopping Centers.
