CJ Singh is the founder director and principal consultant of northern region’s first public relations agency, CorePR which he established in 1987.
He started his career in 1979 as a journalist with a daily newspaper in New Delhi, and later moved to Chandigarh as Assistant Editor of a monthly magazine published by the Haryana state Government. Later he served as public relations manager of a German company for six years, before founding his own public relations consultancy firm.
Masters in English Literature, he topped the Panjab University in postgraduate degree programme in Journalism , and is one of the select few in the country who holds the certification as Accredited Public Relations practitioner, having again topped in the all-India examination conducted by India Foundation for PR Education & Research, Mumbai, in 1989. He is also an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from Erickson Coaching International, Canada, accredited by International Coach Federation.
He co-founded a radio production house, RadioBuzz, and the TakeOne Academy of Broadcasting, in Chandigarh in 2004 heralding the private FM broadcast experience much before the advent of private radio stations in the country, and was, therefore, conferred Entertainment & Tourism Award 2004 by the Indian Tourism & Future Vision Institute for innovative broadcasts.
He has been associated with several professional bodies including The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE), Sikh American Chamber of Commerce, and has served in different capacities, as President of Chandigarh Management Association; President of The Executives’ Club; National Vice President (North), Public Relations Society of India, and Public Relations Council of India; National Vice President (North), Global Forum for Public Relations; Chapter chair of Media Information & Communication Centre of India.
He has been the organizing chair of the All India Public Relations Conference in Chandigarh, in 2004 and Global PR Conclave 2011, and convener of numerous corporate and PR conferences, seminars and workshops.
Public Relations Council of India recognized him for his contribution to PR profession and inducted him into the PR Hall of Fame at 3rd Global PR Meet held at Bangalore on April 3, 2009.
The Global Forum for Public Relations, India’s international body promoting ethical practice of PR, also recognized him and awarded the National Golden Triangle Award 2010 on 21st April 2010 at Hyderabad.
The Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI) conferred the Fellowship of Brains Trust for his contribution to the corporate communication on 11th November 2010 at Mumbai.
In March 2011, Public Relations Council of India conferred the Chanakaya Special Award for Most Promising PR Agency of the Year to CorePR.
Public Relations Council of India also recognized him as the Best Zonal Chair of PRCI at the 6th Global PR Conclave held at Mumbai in February 2012.
He is a visiting faculty to the departments of Mass Communication of Panjab University, Chandigarh; Panjabi University, Patiala; Guru Jambeshwar University, Hissar; Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Centre.
Regular contributor to various newspapers, magazines and professional journals, he manages several blogs, and has edited several books on literature, and spiritualism, besides translating from Hindi into English a biography of a Norway-based Indian novelist.
Closely associated with several social and cultural organizations including Cheshire Homes Chandigarh, Environment Society of Chandigarh, Chandigarh Press Club, Chandigarh Literary Society, The Executives Club, Chandigarh Management Association, he is also a special invitee to traffic management committee of Chandigarh Police Department.
An active Rotarian, and Paul Harris Fellow, he is recipient of several awards for public relations and Four Avenues of Service Citation, and is the Past President of Rotary Club of Chandigarh. He was adjudged the Best Rotarian of the District for 2008-09. He has been the Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3080 for 2009-10, District Secretary 2010-11, and also served as District 3080 Rotary Public Image Coordinator for 2011-13, and is also the District Chair Public Relations currently.
He was a Media Coordinator to Nigeria with a team of Indian Rotarian doctors who conducted polio corrective surgeries from 2-13 December 2012.
