Steve has spent 25 years running his own companies, but it wasn’t until the launch of Gems TV in 2004 that gemstones became his main area of focus. Steve is the co-owner of The Genuine Gemstone Company which is the Parent Company of seven brands: Gemporia.com, Gems TV, Rocks TV, The Lounge, Nowseen.com, JewelleryMaker and Gem Collector. Steve frequently travels to Africa and Asia in search of gemstones; directly visiting the source, searching for the world’s rarest gemstones.

Steve dedicates a lot of his time to charity projects whilst travelling around the world. He is trustee and Founder of The Colourful Life Foundation, a charity set up by the Bennett family to develop health and education in rural Africa and he is also a Guardian of the Assay Office.

In 2012, The Genuine Gemstone Company was awarded ‘No1 Fastest Growing Privately-owned Company’ in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and the company has gone on to win numerous accolades since, including ‘Accessories’ winner at the Online Retail Awards 2014, ‘E-tailer of the Year’ at the BJA Awards 2014 and ‘International Retailer of the Year’ at the Private Business Awards 2014. The awards the company treasures most, are the “Gold Award” presented by Feefo in both 2013 and 2014, in recognition of the company’s customer service level of 98% customer satisfaction, from over 168,000 customer responses.
