Thomas Netousek received his undergraduate degree in Communications Engineering and Electronics from TGM, Wien. He studied Business Administration and Ecomonics at the WU Wien, specialising in IT Systems. He earned his Master with a thesis about solving large problems using computer clusters and his PhD with a thesis about fuzzy information retrieval.
He worked for Hewlett-Packard and IBM both in Vienna as well as at the T.J. Watson Research Center in New York, before starting eMedia Monitor, a technology company focusing application of statistical pattern recognition, including Human Language Technologies, Speech to Text and Computer Vision, to the task of multi-lingual multi-media information management.
A track record of 20 years of management of research projects, including co-operative research projects on both a national as well as European level in the area of Speech and Language Technology has been established.
