Pamela Egan, FNP-C, CDE is a board-certified adult and family nurse practitioner, certified diabetes educator, health columnist, certified specialist of anti-aging medicine and celebrated expert of clinical nutrition.

Pam has completed a fellowship in Anti-Aging and functional medicine through A4M (American Academy of Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine), and has also been certified as a Diabetes Educator by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).

She is board-certified as a nurse practitioner, and was recognized by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners with the AANP 2002 Nurse Practitioner of the Year award.

The previous year, N.P. Egan was honored by the Louisiana Federation of Business and Professional Women, who named her 2001 Business Professional Woman of the Year.

She was appointed twice to serve on healthcare commissions at the request of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. They were the Commission on Perinatal Care and the Prevention of Infant Mortality, and the Women's Policy & Research Commission, respectively.

In 2003, Pam was elected President of the Junior League of Greater Covington, and is still actively involved in a number of local community organizations.

A graduate of LSU Health Sciences Center, Pam's distinguished career as a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Diabetes Educator has spanned 32 years of clinical practice.

In 1988, N.P. Egan played an integral role in the founding and formation of the Egan Nursing Services, which today goes by the name of Egan Healthcare Services. Egan Nursing was founded in the spare bedroom of a house that at the time was the home and primary residence of Mrs. Egan, her husband Peter and their two children (they have since had two more for a total of four).

The company has grown considerably in the time since, and now employs over 200 people full-time. The Egan Healthcare of today is barely recognizable as the descendant of the little mom-n-pop (literally) start-up home health care company that was initially run out of the Egan home. The company now offers an array of home health care services including but not limited to: Home Health Care, Skilled Nursing, Wound Care, Therapy (Physical, Occupational & Speech), Diabetes Care, Infusion & Specialty Pharmacy, Hospice, Medical Staffing, Sitters, Durable Medical Equipment, Oxygen, Respiratory Therapy, Respiratory Care & Equipment (C-PAP, BI-PAP, Nebulizers, etc.) and retail medical equipment and medical supplies.

Nurse Practitioner Egan has also found a way to publish thousands of health articles over past few decades for a myriad of different news and niche publications. These include but not limited to the St. Tammany News, the News Banner, Northshore Living Magazine, Sophisticated Woman Magazine, Woman's World Magazine and countless professional trade journals, medical textbooks, scientific reviews and other publications for healthcare professionals.

She has appeared on the cover of Sophisticated Woman on three different occasions, including two in which she was bestowed with the publication's "Enterprising Woman" award.

Today, Pam's main focus is on the Egan Wellness & Anti-Aging Clinic and Egan Skin Care Spa. Her practice has grown tremendously over the past decade, and new patients sometimes have to wait several weeks for an appointment.

Due to time constraints, N.P. Egan stepped down last year from her volunteer position as a local health columnist as she had consistently found herself with less and less time to write as her clinic and spa grew, along with the respective demands associated with each business. However, she did not stop writing. She now publishes all of her new articles directly to her blog, which actually has a larger combined audience (between the website and blog) than do the local newspapers and magazines for whom she has written in the past.

Pam was among the very first (if not the very first) journalist to report that two different forms of vitamin D existed, and that the one that at the time was most often used in supplements was vastly inferior to the other form, which happens to be the one produced within the skin when a person exposes his or her skin to direct sunlight. She since has published over a dozen articles about vitamin D3, and is now universally recognized by her fellow healthcare professionals and consumers alike as one of the world's foremost experts on vitamin D and clinical nutrition in general.

In 2009, she founded the Egan Skin Care Spa, which is located in the same building as her primary care clinic.

All things considered, perhaps Mrs. Egan's greatest accomplishment is that she managed all of this while doubling as the world's best mother --- rearing four children, who are now four upstanding adults.
