Following a decade of work as a communications professional in South Africa and New Zealand, Marian began working as a journalist in the Australian coal industry in 1999.
Her achievements at the Perth-based Aspermont group were to expand the successful Australia’s Longwall magazine into the US market, and build a network of readers and international advertisers. She also developed the successful daily International Longwall News on-line service, the first of its kind and a highly regarded news source in the international coal space.
In 2006, Marian was head-hunted to join specialist consultant Barlow Jonker (later sold to Wood Mackenzie) to head up the publications division. With the sale of the publications business to Energy Publishing in 2009 her role has expanded to include overall responsibility for the direction of the business in her capacity as Managing Director.
Under her leadership, the business has undergone a process of transformation, aimed at building a sustainable publishing unit leveraging emerging opportunities for growth.
She has a post-graduate teachers diploma and a Masters degree in Writing.
