Mike Fonseca is president of the First Flight Society. He writes and speaks about aviation, the Wright Brothers and the history of the Kill Devil Hills Memorial Association. Mike has had a lifelong love affair with flying, nurtured by his father George, a pilot. Mike’s ever-growing collection of aviation books, models and art includes many famous pilot autographs of the Wright brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Chuck Yeager and Gregory “Pappy” Boyington and others. Although never a pilot himself, Mike has flown in aircraft as varied as the Cessna Skymaster, Stearman Bi-plane, North American T-6, a glider and even the Goodyear Blimp. As a teenager, he was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol advancing to the rank of Lt Colonel, before heading off to college at Virginia Tech. Fonseca is currently the owner of an IT Consulting business in Richmond, VA and has been married for 25 years to his wife, Martha.
