 Glenn C. Best Director of Business Development Urban League of Essex County 


Glen Best serves as the Director of the Business Development at the Urban League of Essex County. In this capacity, he provides the strategic planning and strategies for employer partnerships, talent acquisition activities and retention processes. He facilitates recruitment events and markets services and programs that are add value to the objectives of the employer partners of the League.

Best has had an extensive career working in the areas of workforce development, youth services, higher education, mental health and the nonprofit sector. As a fundraising executive, Best has helped raised over $130 million dollars in funding for capital campaigns including the historical Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington, DC. He has developed marketing plans for workforce programs that have directly increased revenues of the agencies he has served. He has also served on the accreditation teams of several institutions of higher learning.

A native of Lynchburg, VA, Best is a graduate of Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA and Simon’s Rock College in Great Barrington, MA. He served twelve years in the Army National Guard. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and the Essex Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns and currently chairs the Essex County Employment Network. Best is certified in LS/CMI assessment for reentry clients. He also serves as an advisor to the Village Connection, a Maryland based non-profit focused on assisting underserved youth to attend college.
