Spending 20 years working in the fast tract construction business, overseeing the building of hotels and restaurants nationwide, Nick Kurz was involved in many different facets of the construction industry. Starting as a carpenter, Kurz worked his way up through the roles of superintendent, project manager, director of construction, estimating sales and marketing, director of construction as well as business development, before leaving the business in order to take over general management of Gifford Monuments, a family owned business since 1936.

In the two years he has been holding the reigns of Gifford Monuments Kurz has embraced all aspects of the business, and especially enjoys helping people honor the memory of their loved ones, stakes that can be much higher than those in the realm of putting up another location for a corporate chain eatery. An active member of his community including donating his time at his church and as a volunteer fireman. When he is not working, Kurz enjoys spending time with his three children on their family farm.
