Kathryn Harrold GRP, Assistant Green Roof Designer
Kathryn Harrold first learned about Green Roofs while pursuing her degree in Environmental Planning and Design with a focus in Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University.
While at Rutgers, Kat developed a career goal to heal through design. This was strongly influenced by working with Professor Seiko Goto as a research assistant in a study looking for a correlation between the cognitive health of the elderly and the presence of nature.
During the summer of her senior year, Kat expanded her goal to include not just the creation of healing environments for people, but to also heal the environment itself.
After graduation, seeing great potential with Green Roofs to heal both the qualitative aspects of built environments and the environment itself Kat decided to pursue this new frontier by taking the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Boot Camp and became an Accredited Green Roof Professional in May 2010. Kat joined Green Roof Service in 2010 and enjoys a career of innovative design.
