Stuart's career began around the time of the end-of-century date problem circa 1997. You’ll remember, ’Get Ready for Y2K!’ and the dreaded Millennium Bug? We were all being prepared for the potential collapse of civilization as we knew it? The government spent £430M on preparations and contingency plans, but the thing that we thought was going to drop like a 50 megaton ton A- bomb, turned out to resembled something more like the sound of a pathetic beep from a leftover party popper on New Year’s Day.

Opinions are mixed about how well the money was spent. Part of the 430 mil was granted to private sector companies to fund employees to do a five-day A+ certification training course in the context of the Y2K bug. As a newbie, Stuart wanted a piece of the action. It took a bit of convincing as a video games tester. It didn’t quite match up with the work he was currently undertaking. He persevered until my managers agreed to let him go. He took the time off as holidays. He completed the training and eventually earned a coveted role in the IT department as a Technical Support engineer. His first job was to ‘chip’ 50 Sony Play Stations. He was ecstatic.

His experience ranges a variety of subjects but his primary focus has been on: Microsoft Server technologies, messaging (i.e. email), mobile communications, network infrastructure and security (including Sonicwall Security Appliance and Postini).

He's passionate and excited about helping others who proactively seek help, advice, consulting and recommendations on all aspects of IT. He's been concentrating on applying his knowledge in private sector industry and, in particular, how IT can be applied to augment productivity and to ultimately make business run faster.
