Newborn Holistic Ministries (NHM)

Todd Marcus is the president of community based nonprofit Newborn Holistic Ministries, Inc. and a professional jazz musician.
For 15 years Todd Marcus has served as one of the leaders of Newborn Holistic Ministries, a Baltimore nonprofit addressing poverty related issues in the city’s Sandtown-Winchester and Upton communities. Though only 19 when he first joined the organization in its startup phase, he worked to cofound and operate Martha’s Place (marthasplace.org), the organization’s recovery program for women overcoming drug addiction. His work has helped transform Newborn’s intersection in the community from a dilapidated open-air drug market into a vibrant anchor by renovating six buildings, transforming 8,500 square feet of vacant lots into community greenspaces, and creating murals and public art. Most recently, he helped the organization establish its newest program, Jubilee Arts (jubileeartsbaltimore.org), which provides arts classes to community residents of all ages as an alternative to the dangers of drugs and violence that still plague the community. Marcus has lived in the neighborhood for 15 years and is also a professional jazz musician (toddmarcusjazz.com).
