Lisa Montalto

Screenwriter/Producer

Lisa Montalto was born and raised in a little town just outside Boston, Massachusetts. She spent her summers sailboat racing in Boston Harbor from the age of 9, and writing stories, the first of which was published in her school library at age 11.
Today, Lisa Montalto is a screenwriter in Hollywood, California, writing screenplays for hire, novel to screenplay adaptations and ghostwriting screenplays and novels. She also works as a producer and is working her way up the ranks in the industry, playing with the big boys and hoping that her screenplay, 1975: Fear of the Fin, goes into pre-production in the next year. She is hoping to film the movie in Boston Harbor, near her hometown. The film contains some real life stories mixed with fiction in a feature length thriller. With Alfred Hitchcock as one of her favorite Directors, she is a huge fan of Psycho and his style of writing and shooting. As a child she was fascinated with horror movies and used to watch them with her father. One that always stuck in her mind was, "The Birds," by Alfred Hitchock and an odd soap opera called "Dark Shadows," drew her into the art of storytelling. One of her favorite things to do was to when she was 8 years old was to tell her brother a bedtime stories. But these were not ordinary stories. They were a set of three stories that continued from night to night, just like a soap opera. Very creative right from the start, a book she wrote in 6th grade was published in her elementary school library.

Lisa worked at the infamous KISS 108 FM radio in Medford, Massachusetts and got the bug for the media and entertainment business. On her 30th birthday, Matty Siegel, who had the number one morning show in Boston, Matty in the Morning, did a special show, where Lisa was invited on-air to talk about being thirty and unmarried. The show lit up the phone lines and the rest of the morning's guests were bumped, as guys and girls called in to talk about the subject, and even their mother's called in. A client of the company, who was a video dating company, liked the response that Lisa received. They hired her to be the voice of their company and gave her a free video dating membership. As a copy and promo writer, Lisa worked for some of the best in the business before leaving to work at CBS in Boston. As part of their creative team, she worked with high end clients, personally writing :30 second, :60 second and promo spots. Her growing interest in the world wide web and the fact that online advertising was becoming a whole new industry, Lisa took a job at BizTravel.com, as Media Manager. This led to her running a 23 person team at Lycos in Waltham, Massachusetts, where she managed online ad campaigns for major ecommerce partners for the company. Her former boss at BizTravel was creating a start up in New York City, and asked Lisa to join him. As employee #2, Lisa helped build the company from a 2 person team to a bi-coastal company, with a second office in Las Vegas. She spent time living in New York and in Vegas to help the business go public. As SVP, Business Development for RF&B Media, she helped build the sales and advertising teams, was responsible for all copy and promos, and wrote, cast, directed and edited all commercial and promos spots. It was in Vegas that her love of the entertainment business called her back. She began writing brand integration for the company on the show CSI Vegas. As the company was going public, Lisa worked with many of the investors. Her work was seen on such shows as, Wheel of Fortune, Hell's Kitchen, and Celebrity Fit club. Finding that this was what she truly desired as a career, Lisa moved to Los Angeles to pursue writing and producing.

Lisa is always learning new techniques in writing by spending a lot of time on set, with producers and directors and at her favorite reading spot in West Hollywood, The Samuel French Bookstore, that is known for all the books and references for the entertainment industry. She also works in casting and is currently working on a new awards show to take place in 2014.

Lisa Montalto is someone to watch as she continues to pursue her dream!
