MIKE SAWYER has more than 22 years experience of publishing and 12 years in marketing.

Trained as a journalist, he started with Europe’s largest business-to-business publisher – Reed Business Publishing – as a news reporter.

Rising through the ranks in the computer and specialist business press, he was given management responsibility for the product development and launch of a series of titles including Grocery Update (a monthly journal for the supermarket and independent retail sector), Baking Update (monthly for plant bakers, independents and chains) and latterly, Catering Update (monthly for hotels, restaurants, pubs and contract caterers).

Catering Update quickly became the leading monthly magazine for the UK catering market and a strong partner for its sister title Caterer & Hotelkeeper. Mike was Editor of Catering Update for eight years.
