Jonathan Taylor
President, (Odd Days)
“ Jonathan became a caregiver when he met his wife, Lisa, and a family caregiver five years later when her mother moved in with them. Successfully dealing with the relationship complexities in real time formed the basis for his expertise. ”
Jonathan Taylor began writing as a "stringer" for the Newport (OR) News in 1967, and later served as News Editor of the South Sioux City (NE) Star in 1972 shortly after graduating from high school. In 1995, he wrote a monthly column on caregiving issues for the Northwest Senior and Boomer News in Keizer, OR.
He adapted those columns and other experiences caring for his disabled wife and dying mother-in-law into four e-books and a blog serving the needs of the largely unpaid family caregiver.
Since the death of his mother-in-law by attended legal suicide (VSED) in his home in 2009, he has added his mother (who is going blind), and step-father (with moderate dementia) to the list of people receiving his care, support and assistance.
Issues arising with these family members are broadening his base of expertise beyond issues faced by the wheelchair-mobile.
He continues to write on caregiving issues and has started a blog for family caregivers at www.permanenthouseguestinfo.com
