J Allard crashed his first bike at 4 and the crashes have only gotten more spectacular over the years. His latest earned him 18 screws and a plate last season at Whistler. He wrote his first videogame when he was 12 and has been professionally orbiting computers and technology ever since. Armed with a Computer Science degree from Boston University, Allard joined Microsoft in 1991 and helped lead the charge on the company’s efforts around the Internet. In ’99 he led the development of the Xbox project, which has gone on to sell over 100 million units worldwide. After 19 years and over 40 product releases at Microsoft, Allard forged out on his own with Project 529, a Portland-based company founded in the belief that world-class technology can enhance the outdoor experience and inspire people to explore our amazing planet. Since 2013, as CEO of Project 529, he’s been using the Internet he helped build to get people off the Internet and back outdoors. Learn more at www.project529.com.
