Amit joined Grant Thornton's London 'Tax Investigations & Disputes' team, straight out of HMRC (FIS / SI).

He primarily managed Code of Practice 9 (COP9) and Code of Practice 8 (COP8) civil investigations into entrepreneurs and businesses. COP9s were investigations into suspected tax fraud; COP8s were equally intrusive & in-depth, where large sums of tax were suspected to be at risk by HMRC.

He also managed various business enquiries, often cross-taxes, as well as LDF (Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility) and WDF (Worldwide Disclosure Facility) disclosures concerning offshore assets/accounts, and LPC (Let Property Campaign) disclosures.

He assisted other teams and their clients, with enquiries and tax risk-assessments, e.g. Corporate Tax, International Tax, Private Clients, Audit, M&A / Due Diligence.

He went on to manage the London and Birmingham tax dispute teams, and being the first to be promoted to Director in the national practice.
