Andy Atkins
Consultant
“ Andy Atkins has been writing about musicians and musical equipment for many years, including pieces for well-known manufacturers and retailers. His work has been published in both trade and consumer titles both online and in print. ”
Andy Atkins is a sometimes musician (playing badly in the same band he's been in for 25 years), a gig-goer and a lover of music gear. More importantly for the reader, Andy has been writing about music gear and musicians for years - including numerous pieces for major UK retailers and for some of the biggest manufacturers.
His published work spans over 20 years and includes trade and consumer titles, originally in press form and, latterly, mostly online. Andy's comfortable in the digital world as he's also a bit of a geek and consults quite a lot in the field of online marketing. What he particularly likes about the medium (apart from the variable quality!) is the way in which it's possible to mash different media together, whether video, words, images, etc. and tell a better story.
His major equipment interests, aside from the digital world, include guitars, recording and sound engineering. Musically, Andy's tastes are very varied and a 6 disc stack of CDs might include Billy Bragg, Bach, Pentangle, Otis Redding, Tony Coe, Stereo MCs and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
Currently, his on-going writing 'gigs' include one of the UK's music gear retailers and a large online booking agency for bands and performers.
