Sweeney Mae Montinola is an award-winning Marketing Director for SouthBay Pavilion mall in the City of Carson. Sweeney Mae has organized over 700 events and has collaborated with many community organizations in the last 4+ years. She is a published Amazon Author of THE 10 STEP GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL EVENT and goes above and beyond in helping organizations and other small businesses improve by sharing her knowledge of the principles of events & marketing.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Sweeney Mae migrated to Seattle, WA in 1999 and immediately became co-captain of her school’s dance team, secretary of the ASB, member of the National Honors Society, lead production manager for the school’s biannual gala, swept the Student of the Month awards in her first month in high school, and received the Bill Gates Achievers Scholarship award for a four year degree in college. She was accepted in a few universities but decided to attend Washington State University, home of the Cougars. In her college years, she continued to serve in leadership positions such as Multicultural Student Mentor for Asian American Pacific Islander center, College of Business Ambassador, Student Counselor, founder of Eclectic Dance Club, and she was a dance instructor at the state of the art recreational center on campus. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Marketing and a recipient of the President’s Award.

Sweeney Mae Montinola is a skillful and proactive leader. She secured her first job with Macy’s Northwest as Assistant Buyer for Fashion Jewelry before she graduated college and held an advanced level position with her department. Due to the economic downturn, Macy’s Northwest closed down and Sweeney Mae worked for Expedia as a contracted Merchandising Manager. When her term ended with Expedia, she took on a project with her church group to write, produce, and choreograph a stage play to raise money for the Filipino American church group. Her father passed due to lung cancer in 2008 and shortly after that, she decided to try her luck in California.

Sweeney Mae has been working at SouthBay Pavilion since 2010 and she has been an instrumental leader in the community. Sweeney Mae currently serves as Public Relations Commissioner for the City of Carson, Board Member of Carson-Gardena YMCA, Living Our Real Dreams nonprofit organization, and KPA Dance Repertoire. She serves on the HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) Advisory Board for the City of Carson. Sweeney Mae pioneered multiple free fitness programs at SouthBay Pavilion and it has remained one of the most attended programs in the community. She is a certified Zumba instructor and the Zumba Fitness held every Saturday at 9am in the Center Court is attended by over 100 enthusiastic patrons every week. Since then, she organized a weekly Koga Fitness, Line Dancing, and Zumba for Kids events. Sweeney Mae also serves as the Social Media chair for the City of Carson Relay for Life. Above and beyond her call of duty for the Relay for Life, she produced the first Annual Survivor’s Fashion Show at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood last June 25, 2014 that benefited Cancer Research, in which she was recognized by the Long Beach American Cancer Society region as one of the most innovative volunteer. She’s already in the planning stages of the 2nd Annual Survivor’s Fashion Show to be held on June 26, 2015.

Sweeney Mae’s mission is to use her skills, talents, and knowledge to grow successfully in her career as well as serve the community with her gifts. She’s looking forward to writing more books, producing more shows, and becoming one of the best marketing professional and event producer in the industry.
