Angela Barboza-Ryan began a private yoga practice 8 years ago. Self taught, she gained strength, flexibility and clarity, becoming a huge advocate for the benefits of yoga. She accepted an invitation to teach yoga at her daughter's elementary school, and decided to better educate herself by earning her 200 RYT certification. Receiving her education from Yoga 4 Peace, a non-profit yoga studio in Southgate, was a boon to her growth and understanding. The Yoga 4 Peace mission was parallel to her own personal mission to spread the benefits of yoga.

Angela is a volunteer specialist, community activist, and loving mother and wife to a vibrant Ferndale family. Over the last several years Angela has committed her life to the service of others and community through her involvement in several Ferndale and Ferndale School District associations and her dedication to the study, practice, and teaching of yoga.

Angela is a passionate Karma Yoga practitioner. She has won a Good Neighbor Award in Ferndale, MI for her advocacy of all children in the district. Working with the schools has also earned her a Volunteer of the Year award with the Ferndale PTA for the 2009-2010 school year. Her work in the schools is far reaching. She recently coordinated a silent auction supporting a candidate for the Ferndale School board that raised over $2,000. She also teaches Yoga to 2nd and 3rd graders at Roosevelt Elementary School, with plans to expand her program to Coolidge Intermediate School next year. Altruism through teaching yoga, organizing volunteers in the studio and at the schools, reconciling books and doing all she can to improve the world around her is just the beginning...
